Holiday World is set to announce a major new attraction for the 2012 season, with further details due to be unveiled on August 3, 2011.
The park in Santa Claus, Indiana promised in its most recent e-mail newsletter to fans that it has "really big" plans for 2012, although it did not provide any clues as to what might be in store. The nature of the new attraction is expected to be announced next week, and could mark the first large addition to Holiday World since the 2010 opening of the record-breaking Wildebeest waterslide.
The 2011 season saw only minor additions to the park, including the Rudolph's Round-up children's ride and the opening of Safari Sam's Splashland in the Splashin' Safari water park.
2012 looks set to mark a return to the rapid expansion seen at Holiday World over the last few years, which was inspired by the leadership of the late Will Koch. This has seen the family-run park's attendance grow to over one million guests per year.
