Dreamworld to open BuzzSaw rollercoaster in September 2011

Sky Wheel rollercoaster

Dreamworld in Queensland, Australia has confirmed that it will open its new rollercoaster in September 2011, naming the ride as BuzzSaw.

The new addition will a Maurer X-Coaster, the same model used for Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. It will feature a much more compact design than the Rockit, starting with a 151-feet-tall vertical lift hill that leads into the ride's signature element. This sees the train pulled into an upside-down position, before being released into a heartline roll and down a steep drop back into the station.

BuzzSaw's design will be identical to that of Sky Wheel at Germany's Skyline park, with the ride set to feature a theme based around mysterious events that date back several hundred years. It is due to open to the public in September 2011, in time for the school holidays on the Gold Coast.

The new rollercoaster will be the second major addition to Dreamworld in 2011, with the park having already opened Shockwave, a Zamperla Disk'O ride, in June.
