Universal has confirmed that a haunted house based on the upcoming The Thing movie remake will feature at Halloween Horror Nights events on both US coasts this year.
Variety reports that the horror attraction will be included in the events at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. It will be based on the remake of the original 1982 film, which is due to be released on October 14, 2011. Universal's creative team are said to be working closely with the producers of the film to ensure consistency between the movie and the live action experience.
The Thing is the first confirmed haunted house to be announced for either event, with further announcements expected later in the summer. Like the movie, it will focus on an abandoned scientific research facility in Antarctica, which is occupied by an alien creature that can take the form of any living being.
The Universal Orlando Resort has previously announced that its hugely popular Halloween celebrations will be held on September 23, 24, 29, 30 and October 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. As in previous years, Universal is offering a wide range of ticket options for the event, which are detailed on the official Halloween Horror Nights website.
