Disney has revealed that the Grad Nites celebrations at the Disneyland Resort will take place at Disney California Adventure from 2013 onwards.

Grad Nite events allow graduating high school students to party long into the night, enjoying exclusive access to rides and attractions, as well as musical entertainment. The events have been held at Disneyland for the last five decades, but will move across to its sister park when a major expansion of Disney California Adventure is completed.

Ahead of the move, the resort will offer a special park hopper ticket to attendees to the 2012 Grad Nite events. This will enable them to visit both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during the day, before the after-hours party takes place at Disneyland. This will be accompanied by a special performance of the Fantasmic! water and pyrotechnics show.

A similar format will be followed for the 2013 event, with students gaining access to an exclusive performance of the World of Color fountain show at Disney California Adventure. Full information on the upcoming events for 2012 and beyond can be found on the Disneyland Grad Nite website.

The radical $1.1 billion redevelopment of Disney California Adventure will be completed in summer 2012 with the opening of Cars Land. In addition to extensive remodelling of many areas of the park, two other major attractions are also part of the plans - the World of Color night-time spectacular (which opened in June 2010) and recently-opened dark ride The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure.
