Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort are preparing celebratory events to mark Independence Day on July 4, 2011.

Three of Walt Disney World's four parks will commemorate the occasion with special events. At the Magic Kingdom, the fireworks show "Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" will be held at 9pm on July 3 and 4. Meanwhile, Disney's Hollywood Studios will host a special “Rockin’ 4th of July Celebration” concert, featuring Mulch, Sweat and Shears at 9.45pm.

Epcot's "Illumination: Reflections of Earth" show will feature an additional section backed by traditional American themes dubbed "The Heartbeat of Freedom". The show will take place at 10pm on July 4, with the “Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert” taking place outside the American Adventure earlier in the day.

Disneyland will also feature a version of the “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks display, which will take place at 9.30pm on July 1-4. At Disney California Adventure, the nightly World of Color show will feature an additional Independence Day pre-show, which will utilise water, lighting, fireworks and video effects.

Attendance at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland is traditionally very high on July 4 and the surrounding days, although the parks often lay on additional entertainment to keep the crowds occupied.
