Canada's Wonderland has reportedly opened its new WindSeeker tower ride, becoming the first of four Cedar Fair theme parks to do so.
The opening date of WindSeeker had been delayed by technical problems and wet and windy weather conditions, but Screamscape reports that it opened to riders on Tuesday, May 24. The park becomes the first in the world to debut a version of Mondial's WindSeeker ride, which stands at some 301-feet-tall.
The ride sees guests swinging around the central tower in a vertigo-inducing variation on the classic "Chair-O-Plane" attraction. Identical attractions are due to open at Knott's Berry Farm, Kings Island and Cedar Point during 2011, but all have suffered from delays.
The video below shows a test run of Canada's Wonderland's WindSeeker:
WindSeeker becomes the tallest ride at Canada's Wonderland, standing some 70 feet taller than the previous tallest rides Drop Tower and the Behemoth rollercoaster. It sits on the site of the Jet Scream attraction, which has been removed from the park.
