Universal Studios Japan has confirmed that it is open as usual, despite the impact of a devastating earthquake on Japan's north-eastern Pacific coastline.
Unlike the rival Tokyo Disney Resort, which has been forced to close for at least 10 days as a result of the earthquake, Universal Studios Japan was relatively unaffected. The park's English-language website states that guests can visit "safe and free of worries", though it does advise those who are unable to travel due to the earthquake to contact sales outlets for a refund on their tickets.
Universal Studios Japan is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a series of events running from March 3, 2011 through April 8, 2012. This includes a new show for 2011 dubbed Dreams are Universal, and an all-new land for 2012.
Located in Osaka, Universal Studios Japan first opened on March 31, 2001. The park is billing its anniversary events as the "The Biggest and Greatest Happy Surprises in Park History”.
