Universal Orlando has reopened the Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls attraction at Islands of Adventure, more than two months after a fire forced its closure.
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls returned to action on Thursday, March 3. The water flume ride was damaged in the fire on New Year's Day, with Universal yet to reveal its cause. The company opted to bring forward scheduled seasonal maintenance work on the attraction, resulting in the length closure period.
The fire on Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls forced the evacuation of the ride and the surrounding Toon Lagoon area. All riders were evacuated safely, with none requiring hospital treatment, and the Orlando Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames within an hour.
Universal has refused to be drawn on the nature of the repairs were carried out on the ride, or where the damage was most severe. At the time of the fire, the roof of the ride's structure was believed to have been mostly affected, rather than any of the enclosed areas through which riders' log vehicles travel.
