Alton Towers has announced that it will host a concert featuring pop stars JLS, McFly, The Saturdays and Eliza Doolittle on Sunday, June 19, 2011.
Guests will be able to spend the day at the theme park before the Alton Towers Live concert kicks off at 4.30pm, with tickets going on general sale at 9am on February 18, 2011. A total of 24,000 tickets will be on offer for the gig, which will be staged on the lawn in front of Alton Towers' gothic mansion and the park's lake.
Tickets will be made available online via the Alton Towers website or by phone on 08442097323, at a cost of £55 each. The price includes entry to theme park, which will open its gates at 10am.
Last year, Alton Towers hosted a concert by Pink as part of the star's Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour across the UK, as well as a special 1980s-themed event to celebrate its 30th anniversary. These were the first major concerts to be held at the park since the late nineties, with local residents having frequently clashed with management over noise concerns.
Alton Towers has promised to implement measures to improve car parking at the event, after major traffic jams formed following the Pink concert in 2010.
