The ElecTRONica show will extend its run at Disney California Adventure until Labor Day (September 5) 2011, with a range of special acts set to perform over the coming months.
The Disney Parks Blog confirmed the plan to retain the show, claiming that it has become popular with guests at Disneyland's sister park. Inspired by Disney's recently-released Tron: Legacy movie, ElecTRONica will continue to take place during the evening in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of California Adventure.
The show was originally due to run throughout December 2010, but will now remain in place during the DVD and Blu-Ray release periods for the movie. A further extension of the run is possible, given Disney's plans for an animated series based on the Tron universe and a rumored big-screen sequel.
ElecTRONica features music, live performances and interactive experiences, including the chance to play classic 1980s arcade games at a recreation of Flynn's Video Arcade. Current featured acts include "We Are Heroes" (an MTV Award-winning dance crew) and LASERMAN (who combines lights, lasers and music in futuristic routines).
Disney is rumored to have given the green light for its Imagineers to begin early concept development for a ride based on the Tron universe. If the reports are accurate and the plans ultimately receive the go-ahead, the Tron attraction could anchor the long-rumored overhaul of the entire Tomorrowland area of Disneyland.
