Universal Orlando is considering introducing "black-out dates" on all of its annual passes next year, as it continues to deal with the crowds attracted to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Behind the Thrills reports that a new survey of Universal Orlando passholders asks for their opinion on several new annual pass options for 2011 - with none of them including unrestricted, year-round entry to Islands of Adventure (where the Wizarding World is located). Passholders are asked to vote for or against the different options, and can sign up via the Universal Orlando website to participate in future surveys.
To compensate passholders for the imposition of black-out dates, Universal Orlando proposes to enable them to enjoy Early Entry into the Wizarding World an hour before Islands of Adventure opens to the public. This perk is currently only offered to guests staying at one of the resort's on-site hotels.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has proven to be enormously successful since opening in June 2010. Overall attendance at Universal Orlando increased 36% in October compared to the same period a year ago, with the resort recording the strong financial results in its 20-year history for the preceding quarter.
