Locations for Disney's planned Soarin' Over The World attraction revealed?

A new report claims to reveal the locations that will be covered by Disney's Soarin' Over The World, a long-rumored upgrade to the chain's existing Soarin' attractions.

Disney and More reports that the updated ride is due to open at Disney California Adventure and Walt Disney World's Epcot in 2013 or later. A version could also make its way to the Walt Disney Studios park in Paris in the longer-term, with the park set to be expanded significantly over the next few years.

According to the report, the updated attraction will include flights over England, France, Italy, Egypt, India, China, Japan and the USA's Grand Canyon and New York. This would dramatically expand its scope beyond the current ride movie, which covers a range of areas in California. The precise locations to be shown in the movie are reportedly still to be confirmed.

The addition of a version of Soarin' to Disneyland Paris has been a longstanding rumor, although the resort is currently likely to be preoccupied with plans to add a $150 million dark ride based on the Ratatouille movies in 2012 or 2013. If Soarin' Over The World does make it across the Atlantic, it could be located in the space between Playhouse Disney and CineMagique, with Disney and More claiming that the area may be completely rethemed as a 1950s Hollywood theater district.

Soarin' Over California opened at Disney California Adventure in February 2001, becoming one of the headline attractions at the new park. An identical attraction, known simply as Soarin', opened at Epcot in 2005. The attraction is a simulator-style ride which sees guests hanging from the ceiling as they "fly" over big-screen projections of California landmarks.

Further rumored details of Soarin' over the World and mock images of the attraction can be found in Disney and More's detailed report.
