A video has emerged on YouTube showing the dramatic mid-performance collapse of Disneyland's Fantasmic dragon.
The giant animatronic creature's breakdown occurred on August 28, but footage of the event has been surprisingly slow to appear online. However, YouTube user ratmaster2000 has now posted a clip which clearly captures the incident.
The key moment in the video, embedded below, occurs after around 1 minute 10 seconds when the dragon suddenly pitches forward. The clearly-damaged dragon is then still for several seconds before alert technicians obscure it using one of Fantasmic's water screens.
Performances of Fantasmic will continue without the 45-foot dragon, which was only added to the show last September after persistent technical problems delayed its debut. The unfortunate dragon has been dubbed "Murphy" by fans, in a reference to Murphy's Law (the adage which states "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong"). No timescale has been given for its return to the show.
