A video has emerged online which shows an animated model of what is claimed to be the "world's first" element of Alton Towers' Thirteen rollercoaster.
The park has closely guarded the secret of what the ride's "secret weapon" will be, although with Thirteen set to open on Saturday coaster fans do not have much longer to wait to find out if the video is accurate. In recognition that our readers may not want to spoil the surprise, the video is embedded beneath a spoiler warning at the bottom of this article.
Alton Towers has also released the third in a series of "blipverts" for Thirteen which are currently showing on UK TV. Embedded below, the five-second advert follows the same "Dark Forest" theme as the previous two. The blipverts are designed to support Alton Towers' promotion of Thirteen as "the scariest rollercoaster in the world".
Importantly, the advertisements still list March 20 as the planned opening date for Thirteen despite the park being forced to cancel last weekend's preview event. Work to finish theming of the new Dark Forest area (which replaces Ug Land) is set to continue right up until the opening day of the Alton Towers' 2010 season on Saturday.

Spoiler warning - do not read beyond this point if you do not wish to see more information on Thirteen's ride mechanism
The video, posted on YouTube by user kevinmalone1, is claimed to be an official rendering from Alton Towers. However, its source is yet to be confirmed and there is still a possibility that it is just a mock-up from an enthusiastic fan.
In line with rumors about Thirteen's design, it shows a section of track that "freefalls" vertically, before teetering backwards and forwards and finally joining with another section to allow the coaster to continue on its journey. The drop will take place inside the "crypt" which forms a major part of Thirteen's theming.
