Disneyland has confirmed that the "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" show will reopen at the park on Friday, December 18.

The show, which originally ran in the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland from 1966 through 2004, will return in the same location in a new guise as "The Disneyland Story, featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln". The move is designed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth.

Disney has recreated Abraham Lincoln for the show, using its most advanced animatronics yet. For the first time, Lincoln's head will be fully electronic, enabling realistic facial movements of a kind not yet seen in any Disney attraction. The technology was not ready for the addition of President Obama to the Magic Kingdom's Hall of Presidents earlier this year.

Similar in concept to the Hall of Presidents, "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" sees the animatronic Lincoln giving rousing speeches to guests. Before opening at Disneyland, it was demonstrated at the New York World's Fair from 1964-65. The new version of the show will retain the original audio track, but Disney hopes the updated Lincoln figure will give it a new lease of life.

"Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years", which replaced "Mr. Lincoln" in 2004 but stopped showing on March 16, will now be viewable in the lobby area of the Opera House, along with the current display of Disneyland history and memorabilia.

I recently saw The Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom and i really enjoyed it. I hope this lives up to it- I'm sure it will.
