Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom has begun dismantling its Chang rollercoaster, which is set to be relocated to Six Flags Great America.
Chang is being removed to make way for a major expansion of the Splashwater Kingdom water park. It is expected to take several weeks to remove the ride, which carried its last riders over the weekend. Opening dates have not been confirmed for the expanded water park, or for the reassembled Chang at its new home.
A stand-up steel rollercoaster, Chang set several world records when it opened in 1997. At the time it was the tallest, fastest and longest stand-up coaster in the world - standing 154 feet tall, reaching 65mph and over 4000 feet in length.
Local media sources are pointing to Six Flags Great America as the destination for Chang, but Six Flags is yet to confirm this.
