Disney has announced that the MuppetVision 3D show at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's California Adventure will be upgraded to digital 3D in the near future.

The show's movie will be upgraded to the new technology, which is now widely used in Disney's cinema releases such as the recent Up. A new pre-show is also planned for the ride, along with the replacement of the spoof movie posters in the waiting area with more modern ones such as Pirates of the Amphibian (starring Kermit the Frog).

MuppetVision 3D was introduced at Disney's Hollywood Studios in May 1991 and was among the first 3D attractions installed in a theme park. It was also the last Muppets project supervised by creator Jim Hension before his death.
