New rumors have emerged suggesting that Walt Disney Studios in Paris will open a dark ride based on Pixar's Ratatouille in 2012.
A Ratatouille attraction at Disneyland Paris has long been rumored, and Disney's Paris parks are a natural home for a ride based on the film, which is set in Paris. The plot follows the adventures of a rat who dreams of becoming a world class chef, and winds up working in a top Paris eatery.
Disneyland Paris blog Disney and More has posted convincing details of the Ratatouille attraction - although it's important to note that these are not yet confirmed by Disney. The blog claims that the ride will be exclusive to Disney's Paris parks, and will be located close to the upcoming Toy Story Playland. The cost is estimated at $120-150m, putting Ratatouille firmly in the "major attraction" category.
According to the site, the dark ride will see guests "shrunk" down to the size of a rat. They will start their journey inside the kitchen of Gusteau's restaurant, before experiencing a chase through key scenes from the movie. Disney may reuse the ride system from Tokyo Disneyland's Pooh attraction, which allows full 360 degree rotation of the ride cars.
The site also speculates that the updated Star Tours 2 could come to Disneyland Paris in time for 2012, although there is little solid evidence for this at this stage.
