Six Flags Great America will open its latest attraction, pirate-themed water ride Buccaneer Battle, on May 15.
The ride sees guests carried around on pirate boats which hold 4-8 people, and operating water guns which can be used to soak other boats, special targets and even "landlubbers" on shore. With other boats and landlubbers both equipped with cannons to shoot back, riders should expect to get soaked. Even if they avoid this during the ride, on exiting the ride a giant pail soaks random guests.
Similar "splash battle" rides have opened in recent years at several other parks (such as Battle Galleons at Alton Towers), but at 450 feet Buccaneer Battle is the longest version yet. As the ride never stops moving, it should be able to accommodate large numbers of guests - but TPT still recommends riding early in the day to avoid a long queue.
