Universal Studios Orlando has announced that "Twister: Ride It Out" has closed until spring.
The ride, based on the 1996 movie about a group of "tornado-hunters", will still open for special events, and will be open during the peak summer season.
Not suprisingly, the decision has been made to save money in the current economic climate, although all of the team members working on the ride will be reassigned to other attractions.
It's the second temporary attraction closure in quick succession for Universal, with Fear Factor Live also shuttered until the spring. The park claims the closures are being made according to "guest demand", with the least popular rides closing first.
Universal Orlando announced the lay-offs of 70 employees in January.
