New Beauty and the Beast-Themed Bar Confirmed to Be Opening Later This Year

Earlier this year it was announced that Mizner’s Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort was going to be closed during a refurbishment that would see the location not only updated, but also expanded into what was previously the Commander Porter’s gift shop. And though Disney didn’t say anything specific about this refurbishment at the time, rumors swirled about the location being transformed into a character-based bar inspired by the 2017 live action Beauty and the Beast film. And while it took a few weeks, Disney has finally confirmed this rumor, and shared some of the first details about what this re-imagined lounge area will look like when it opens later this year.

This expanded location will have multiple rooms inspired by Beauty and the Beast

When this re-imagined location opens this fall, it will feature four unique spaces inspired by the live action Beauty and the Beast film. The lounge’s signature bar will glow from the light of a gold chandelier that takes its inspiration from Belle’s flowing ball gown, with subtle nods to the Beast’s magical rose. In another room, guests will find a space that recalls the iconic library from the film, with classical baroque designs and French furnishings inspired by Belle, with hints of the Beast’s friends. Another character-inspired space inside this expanded lounge will be the garden room, which will be a whimsical space that draws its inspiration from the enchanted forest surrounding Beast’s castle. Finally an outdoor patio will evoke the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.

The Mizner’s name probably won’t be sticking around

Though Mizner’s was an iconic part of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, when this location reopens this fall, it will likely have a brand new name that will ensure that guests associate this bar and lounge with the Beauty and the Beast characters that have inspired its redesign. While this hasn’t exactly been confirmed yet, with Disney leaning towards injecting characters into as many experiences as possible, we’d imagine some kind of moniker recalling Belle and the Beast will be announced sometime in the near future.

This isn’t the only character addition coming to the Grand Floridian

Though this new Beauty and the Beast lounge is for the 21 and older crowd, Disney is also adding a character experience for kids as well. Beginning this fall, little guests can visit a whole new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location, which is being constructed where the current Ivy Trellis Salon (which itself will relocate into Senses – A Disney Spa) is now. No opening date for this additional location has been announced but we’d guess this third Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location (the first of which at a Disney hotel) will likely be open at the Grand Floridian before the end of the year.

There will be a pop up bar available for guests while this location is being re-imagined

Though we know that the updated Beauty and the Beast lounge will be open sometime later this year, guests who are in need of a drink and a place to relax in the meantime can enjoy a pop up bar on the first floor of the Grand Floridian, right next to the Garden View Tea Room. This location will remain open daily for guests until the re-imagined location opens back up this fall.

While the Beauty and the Beast lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort was rumored for quite some time, it is still a little surprising that Disney is looking for additional ways to incorporate characters in to its adult hotel experiences. Then again, with the addition of a Little Mermaid restaurant at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the transformation of Artist Point into a character dining experience and the addition of a limited time Toy Story special event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, maybe more characters at Disney hotels is the new normal, and this latest change is just continuing the status quo.
