Key Information
Worlds of Fun will become the latest Cedar Fair theme park to open an upcharge dinosaur attraction in summer 2013, the park has confirmed.
The park will install a version of Dinosaurs Alive!, a walkthrough exhibit that has already found a home at sister parks Kings Island, Canada's Wonderland, Kings Dominion, Dorney Park and Cedar Point. A near-identical attraction will also open at Valleyfair next summer. Guests will have to pay an additional fee of $5 on top of their standard admission ticket price in order to explore the new addition.
Dinosaurs Alive! will be very similar to the version at Kings Island, which Theme Park Tourist reviewed last year. However, it will be on a smaller scale, featuring more than 35 life-size animatronic dinosaurs produced by Canadian firm Dinosaurs Unearthed.
Several of the models will be controllable by guests via interactive consoles, which will show how scientists believe they moved their arms, tail, mouth and eyes. The largest model on show will be the Ruyangosaurus, which will reach a height of almost 40 feet and a length of 72 feet.
Each of the dinosaurs in the exhibit will be covered in skin-like materials and will feature realistic movements. They will be split across several themed areas, each depicting a specific scene.
