The stunning Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge opened in 2001, alongside the Animal Kingdom theme park. The African-themed accommodation is impressive, but the real draw is the expansive, animal-packed savannah that sits at the rear of the hotel. Rooms that overlook this come an at extra cost, but there are a number of public viewing areas around the hotel, too. The African theme extends into the Lodge's two main restaurants, Jiko: The Cooking Place and the buffet-style Boma: Flavors of Africa. The Mara offers more traditional American fast food, while Sanaa is located in the Kidani village Disney Vacation Club area and also serves African cuisine.
