Following the success of its Fright Nights Halloween events, Thorpe Park installed its first permanent horror maze in 2010. Like nearby SAW – The Ride, it based on the “Saw” horror movie series and is one of few rides at the park to feature an age restriction (no under 12s) instead of a height restriction.

After queuing past a number of torture devices created by the twisted Jigsaw, guests are divided into groups. With their hands on the shoulders of the person in front, they walk through a series of scenes inspired by the films, many of which are populated by live actors.

The set-pieces include the iconic bathroom set from the first movie, a live electric fence and chained-up bodies (some of which are not yet dead). Guests emerge into a small shop, from which they can purchase a group photo taken at the start of the maze.

Note: for the 2013 season, Saw Alive will only operate during the Fright Nights Halloween events.
