Gotham City Gauntlet Escape from Arkham Asylum was relocated from the closed Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom park, where it was known as Road Runner Express. It opened April 2011 in the DC Superhero Adventures area of Six Flags New England, and is themed around the fictional city that forms the setting for the Batman comic strips and movies.

The ride is a classic steel wild mouse coaster manufactured by German firm Maurer Söhne. It sees riders boarding four-person cars before being carried up a 49-feet-tall lift hill, and reaches a top speed of 28 miles per hour as it careens through a series of sharp turns.

The backstory for the ride is that riders are attempting to escape from Arkham Asylum, the home of Gotham City's criminally insane. To tie in with the plot, the ride's cars are themed to resemble police cars, taxi cabs and "Bat Villains".
