Once the tallest and fastest ride at Six Flags Great Adventure, nitro is now somewhat dwarfed by Kingda Ka. Despite this, it still packs quite a punch, with riders being carried up a 230-foot lift hill before plummeting towards the ground below at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour.

The lengthy circuit features a "hammerhead" turn, several camlback hills and a 540-degree helix. Sit at the back to maximize your "airtime".

Upcoming refurbishments, rehabs and closures

We are not aware of any scheduled refurbishment periods for Nitro. Do you know of any upcoming "rehabs" that we're missing? If so - please contact us so that we can keep the list up-to-date.

Nitro is a really good roller coaster, with a lot of airtime, the restraints (lap-bars) do not fell like they could hold you in. The car is very open, which makes you quite anxious, feeling like you might fall out, especially around the bend at the end of the L-shape. Nitro has a mixture of floater airtime and lots of g-force pushing you into your seat. One of the only problems is that the staff take a very long time loading the train and sending it off, So if they are running more than two trains, you might spend a long time sitting on the brake run.
