Key Information
When it opened in 2007, Furius Baco was the fastest roller coaster in Europe. An Intamin Accelerator model, it blasts riders to a top speed of 84 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, and features a circuit that hugs the ground closely.
Unusually, Furius Baco's trains feature a "winged" design, similar to that of the Wing Rider coasters that have been popularised by Bolliger & Mabillard in recent years. Riders sit on "wings" on either side of the track, providing a sensation of freedom as they soar over the ground below.
The ride's station is nestled amongst a vineyard, with the backstory revolving around a crazy inventor who has designed a new machine to collect the grapes for him. However, a monkey assistant triggers the machine too early, launching riders across the vineyard.
Unfortunately, Furius Baco has gained a reputation for being very rough, due to the extreme vibrations of the train and the over-the-shoulder restraint system. This divides opinion among coaster fans, with most either loving or hating the ride.
