Tucked away on a 140-acre site in the village of Ower in Hampshire, Paultons Park is rapidly developing into one of the UK’s leading family theme parks. It is home to more than 60 rides and shows, dozens of species of exotic birds and a variety of animal species such as meerkats, penguins and cranes. The park only gained national recognition, though, with the opening of Peppa Pig World in 2011.
Park History
Paultons Park is situated on a former country estate, which was acquired by the Mancey family in 1963. Still owned by the family, it first opened to the public as Paultons Park and Bird Sanctuary in 1983. As the name suggests, exotic birds were the main attraction, but new additions were gradually made to broaden its appeal. The real expansion, though, began in 1999 with the opening of the Raging River Ride. The additions of Cobra and Edge followed, as the park sought to attract older guests. Finally, the debut of Peppa Pig World in 2011 seems set to herald a new era for Paultons Park. In 2021 a major investment saw the opening of a new land - Tornado Springs, complete with eight new rides.
