Smoky Mountain River Rampage is a "river rapids"-style ride, in which guests board circular rafts that are propelled at high speeds around through a narrow channel. As with most rides of its type, the thrill comes from not knowing exactly how wet you'll get - there's an element of randomness that dictates whether you'll get hit by the various fountains and water jets that line the circuit.
