Regarded by many as Dollywood's finest attraction, Mystery Mine is a heavily-themed Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster. It combines the steep drops and sharp turns seen on other rides of its type with some extensive theming, and features a backstory based around a haunted 19th century mine.

After being launched out of the station, guests race through an indoor, dark-ride section packed with special effects. Eventually, they are carried up a vertical lift hill and emerge outdoors, thundering through two inversions and several helices before plummeting back into the mine. A second lift hill follows, with riders then plunging down a 95-degree drop before returning to the station.
