Regarded by many as Dollywood's finest attraction, Mystery Mine is a heavily-themed Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster. It combines the steep drops and sharp turns seen on other rides of its type with some extensive theming, and features a backstory based around a haunted 19th century mine.

After being launched out of the station, guests race through an indoor, dark-ride section packed with special effects. Eventually, they are carried up a vertical lift hill and emerge outdoors, thundering through two inversions and several helices before plummeting back into the mine. A second lift hill follows, with riders then plunging down a 95-degree drop before returning to the station.

Reviews of Mystery Mine:

Twist on a classic

Mystery Mine is a great, new twist on the classic runaway mine ride type of roller coaster found at most theme parks. Most abandoned mine themed coasters are slower, meandering, family attractions. Mystery Mine is more of a high speed thrill ride and even goes upside down twice! Half of the ride is outdoors and the other half is inside a dark building that contains many surprises that I'll leave as a mystery. The ride sits four across in two rows. Mystey Mine is a fun coaster and one of the best themed rides in all of Dollywood.
