Key Information
Disney's new daytime show "Kite Tails" at Disney’s Animal Kingdom had its debut on October 1 2021 for the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. This fun show features various windcatchers and kites “of all shapes and sizes” dancing in the sky, accompanied by some classic Disney tunes. Guests who check out this show will be able to see favorite Disney characters, including Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie, come to life as three-dimensional kites, some stretching to 30 feet long. This new show comes alive several times daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater, which was formerly the home of the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular.
Disney Kite Tails has been revised in 2022 to include four parts, each featuring different kites and lasting between 3 and 5 minutes (approximately 15 mins in total) rather than the original two longer shows. The 4 parts were:-
- Lion King (5 mins) " - “Hakuna Matata” and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” with young Simba and Timon and Pumbaa kites.
- "Circle of Life" (3 mins) - featuring adult Simba and Zazu kites
- Jungle Book (3 mins) - "I wanna be like you" featuring King Louie and kites which create a rainbow.
- "The Bare Necessities" (3 mins) - featuring Baloo kite.
Autumn 2022 - Disney Kite Tails has now closed with no sign of it re-opening in its current format.
