Pandora: The World of Avatar

Opening Date:
May 27, 2017

The headline ride in Pandora: The World of Avatar, now confirmed to be named Avatar - Flight of Passage, will be a major, "E-Ticket" attraction that will offer a simulated experience of flying over Pandora on a banshee creature. It has been compared to Soarin' at Epcot, but it is likely that the Avatar ride will actually be considerably more technologically advanced - supporting enhanced, more realistic movements and 3-D video on a wrap-around screen.

The plans show four separate theaters, spread across four floors. The show itself will be projected onto an enormous, IMAX-style curved screen, just as it is in the Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Florida. Riders will board vehicles that rise to one of three show levels in front of the screen, also in a similar style to the Universal attraction.

Upcoming refurbishments, rehabs and closures

We are not aware of any scheduled refurbishment periods for Avatar: Flight of Passage. Do you know of any upcoming "rehabs" that we're missing? If so - please contact us so that we can keep the list up-to-date.

Greatest Surprise of 2017

I did not expect to like Pandora- The World of Avatar and I had expected this ride to be overrated. Upon waiting three hours for the ride about two months after its opening, my first words upon exiting were "I take back everything I said" and I had to experience Flight of Passage a second time before leaving Animal Kingdom that day. This is THE most immersive ride in the entire world. Disney did everything right on this ride. And as someone who is made sick by virtual reality, this ride does not affect me at all.

This is the best ride in America. It has an unprecedented level of immersion that can only be described as surreal. Even after multiple rides, it blows me away each time. A new standard for Disney rides.
