Type:
Flat ride

First opened in 1904, Flying Machines is the oldest ride still in operation at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Originally named, the Hiram Maxim Captive Flying Machine, it sits just inside the entrance to the park. Guests queue around the outside of the raised platform that holds the ride, before boarding rocket-themed vehicles. These are attached to long chains, and swing outwards as the central column rotates.
