The Beastie is the oldest rollercoaster at Alton Towers, having opened in 1983 under the name Dragon Coaster. Originally located in Festival Park (now Dark Forest), it was subsequently moved to Thunder Valley (now Forbidden Valley). It gained its current name from comparisons to the larger The Beast rollercoaster, which has since been removed. In 1997, the ride was moved to its current location in Adventure Land.

Aimed at younger guests, the Beastie features a simple figure-of-eight circuit. To extend what would otherwise be a very short ride, it travels around the circuit twice per ride.
