9. Jurassic Park Flying Coaster

There reportedly had been plans for a flying coaster like Manta at SeaWorld. This ride was never incorporated at Islands of Adventure, and the park instead had a version of a flying-themed coaster Pteranodon Flyers. A version of this coaster was eventually built at Universal Studios Japan and is called The Flying Dinosaur.

8. Mount Crumpit

Rumors of a Grinch-themed Mount Crumpit coaster similar to the Matterhorn have never appeared to be more than just rumors. Would you like to see this concept in Suess Landing?

7. Dr. Seuss Noisarium

This would have been a musical playground and would have sat in the exit for the Cat in the Hat ride. It would have featured all different kinds of noise-making contraptions for children and adults alike.

6. Stephen King Horror Ride

This dark ride would have included characters from The Shining and even Pennywise the Clown from IT. It would have also featured a trick ending where riders would think the ride was complete before continuing. The trick ending was later included in the Revenge of the Mummy coaster. Some may agree that maybe it's better that this ride didn’t happen. Let’s leave the horror to Halloween Horror Nights.

 5. Casper Dark Ride

A dark ride themed around Casper the Friendly Ghost was rumored where guests would have ridden on 4 poster beds. Sally Dark Rides developed a version of this ride, Casper’s Birthday Blast for Malaysia’s Movie Animation Park Studios. It is an interactive dark ride.

4. Terminator 2 Roller Coaster & 3. Terminator 2 interactive war zone

Other concepts were discussed before they decided on creating Terminator 2 3D and another idea included an interactive war zone where guests could join the war between man and machine. Sadly, T2 3D: Battle Across Time is also no longer with us as it closed in 2017.

2. Van Helsing

Although a walkthrough Van Helsing attraction existed at Universal Studios Hollywood from 2004-2006, this version was said to have utilized ride technology that later became the basis for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. It would have incorporated animatronics and screens.

1. Backlot Tour

Universal Studios Hollywood has had a very popular Backlot Tour that has regularly been updated over the years. Unfortunately, Universal Studios Orlando never got its version of the Backlot Tour. The tour is said to have included scenes from King Kong and even a large wave of water that would have swept over a canyon. Many elements that Universal had planned for this attraction seem to have been very similar to what Disney’s MGM Studios had in its backlot tour. Did Disney hijack the idea? We may never know, but Universal was forced to scrap their backlot tour mid-development. They ended up using the set pieces for other individual attractions like Kongfrontation and Earthquake: The Big One.

Spiderman 3D was originally supposed to even be Batman 3D. The whole thing was designed for Batman, and they had to change it up to Spiderman when Universal acquired the rights to Marvel instead of DC. That's why there's a "Spidey Signal" at the start of the ride. There is no Spidey Signal in the movies, cartoons or comics, and that was supposed to the the Bat Signal, so they had to just make that up for the ride.
