5. Makeovers – Characters, Cast Members & Everything Else
It goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway – everything the light touches at Disney World will be given a makeover as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations. Expect new music, themed food and waves of anniversary-appropriate merchandise to hit the airwaves, eateries and stores, respectively. Mickey and Minnie have also been confirmed to be donning new attire from October 1 onwards. In fact, even the Cast Members will be boasting new uniforms.
6. Restaurants
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration” has everything covered, so perhaps to no surprise, new restaurants will also be opening up during the 18-month-long event. These include Toy Story Roundup BBQ at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the long-awaited Space 220 at Epcot’s Mission: SPACE Pavilion. No official date has been announced for either restaurant, but they will be opening their doors between now and March 2023. We do know, however, that Toy Story Roundup BBQ will be a western-esque “backyard barbecue”, while Space 220 will offer views of Earth, not unlike the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
7. Disney Fab 50 Character Collection
The 50th anniversary celebrations will see the arrival of Disney Fab 50 Character Collection. Characters “cast in gold” will be visible across all four of the Disney Parks, in a scavenger hunt of sorts. While details are slim at present, it is said that these characters will “inspire surprising new ways for you to interact” with the celebrations at the resort. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as more news unfolds on this exciting new character-themed treasure hunt.
With the big event just a few months away, it’s likely we’ll get more details in the coming weeks. And with the celebrations set to last for 18 months, expect plenty of secrets to be revealed.
