3. Shop early for the best selection

Star Wars Weekends offers a breathtaking array of merchandise, from event T-shirts to stunning personalized pieces with a hefty price tag. Limited edition items are readily available on the first day, but sell out rapidly. If you have your eye on something specific, or just want to choose from the widest possible selection, attend on opening day and head straight for Darth’s Mall. In addition, merchandise sometimes changes from weekend to weekend. Consider visiting at least twice, once early in the run and once shortly before it closes, for additional options.

4. Use Fastpass+ judiciously

Star Wars Weekends shows use the Fastpass+ system, but they seem to jump back and forth between Tier 1 and Tier 2. If they’re at Tier 1 at the time you book, you will only be able to select one (and not Toy Story Midway Mania or Rock ‘n Roller Coaster). If they’re at Tier 2, you can choose two shows (plus a ride from Tier 1). Focus on what you most want to see, and plan to use Standby (arriving at LEAST an hour early—check at the beginning of the day for possible wristband distribution at celebrity talks) for everything else.

5. Buy a package only if you’re a super fan

From the Feel the Force Premium Package ($69 for adults and $39 for kids in 2015) through the $399 Ultimate Day VIP experience, Star Wars Weekends is packed with pay to play opportunities. If you are a major Star Wars fan who will be absolutely devastated if you miss something, the peace of mind is probably worth it. If your interest is more casual, however, there is no real need to pay an upcharge, especially if you are familiar with the park and have a good plan.

6. Choose another day to see the rest of the park

Save the rest of the park for another day

If you’re not a Star Wars fan, steer well clear of Disney’s Hollywood Studios on event days. The crowds are huge, and just maneuvering through the walkways can be a challenge. If you do want to attend, plan your day around the Star Wars activities. Choose a day when the event is not running to see the rest of the incredible park offerings. You might be able to sneak in a ride or two, but trying to divide up a single day generally results in not seeing much of anything.
