3. Fillmore’s Pomegranate Limeade, Cars Land, Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Resort

Cars Land Fillmore's Lemonade Beverages

This particular beverage is stand-alone amazing. Disney could sell it in the parking structure and it would still have made this list. This exquisite elixir is exclusively available at the Cozy Cone Motel dining area, within the incredible Cars Land. Relatively tucked away, these quick-service concessions do a consistent, bustling business. Certainly more than the few tables can accommodate. This is a blessing, as it compels one to take their delicious fruity wonder, topped with a whipped citrusy taste-explosion, and explore the surrounding creativity.

Grab a limeade for each member of your party as they are impossible to share in a manner that will satisfy anyone. Cruise over to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree next door, and chortle at the clever voiceover. Stroll past the former site of Luigi’s Flying Tires and reminisce about this timeless, underappreciated attraction (ahem). Perhaps the best use of your time and delightful drink awaits at Radiator Springs Racers. The popularity of this relatively new ride shows no signs of abating, nor does the Standby wait time. You are allowed to take these family-friendly beverages with you in line, and as sadly-slow as this one moves, you will be glad you did.

4. Lava Smoothie, Hurricane Hanna’s Grill, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club, Walt Disney World Resort

Disney Beach Club Resort and Lagoon

It takes something significant to standout within Walt Disney World Resort. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort does so, mostly due to its unrivaled location. Bordered, indeed blessed by a luxurious, sprawling beach. Mere meters from the thrilling Boardwalk. And just around the corner from a relatively private entrance to, let’s face it, Disney’s best park, Epcot. It is the type of place you could quite happily enjoy a simple cup of tap water.

That won’t be necessary. The Yacht & Beach Club, and Hanna’s Grill specifically, has terrific food and beverage offerings.  The selection highlighted here is admittedly served throughout Walt Disney World, though guests will be hard pressed to find a venue for which it is better suited. The Lava Smoothie; an ideal blend of berries, pineapple and coconut, makes a wonderful Polynesian Resort refreshment, is a  true treat while strolling Saratoga Springs and will bring tears to your eyes as you sit beside the Grand Floridian pool. While each offer their variation of lounge-chair, smoothie ingesting nirvana, again, only the Yacht & Beach Club do so within cartwheeling distance of Epcot.

5. No-Jito, California Grill, Contemporary Resort, Walt Disney World

Contemporary Resort Monorail at sunset

As witness to the hyperventilating masses who habitually jockey for precious, fleeting shade, or virtually bathe in the tepid drinking fountains, it is a marvel how many theme park visitors don’t understand how to properly escape the inevitable heat. From the Magic Kingdom, specifically, you are a simple and brief walk, boat or monorail ride away from three eras of resort-style relief. Sure, it borders on blasphemy to leave a park for any purpose other than heading to another park, though sometimes your very survival is at stake.

Consider, at 1PM, on a blistering, Floridian afternoon, you can either wedge yourself into the Tomorrowland Speedway line with a thousand of your closest, sweat-lathered friends, or you can ease into blissful air-conditioned comfort atop the Contemporary Resort with a glass of minty refreshment and a stunning view of the World. A No-Jito is mint, lime, soda and twenty minutes or so of not standing in the sun.

The California Grill has a moderate dress code. When you see the place you’ll understand. If you are politely refused at the door, do not despair unduly. The Contemporary boasts a Mickey-sized handful of additional restaurants, counters and lounges where hopelessly polite Cast Members will be delighted to serve you a No-Jitos to your flip-flop’s content.

What about the Beverly?

No-jito instead of the mint julep at Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans? Yes I am biased towards DLR.
