4. Backstage shopping

Universal Studios Orlando has two backstage stores that are exclusively open for Team Members. One sells Universal merchandise at steep discounts. This is where you can pick up overstocked items for rock bottom prices. The store is particularly handy for grabbing event gear after the fact. Shirts and hats for seasonal events like Mardi Gras and Halloween Horror Nights are often available for just a few dollars here once the event is over.

The second backstage store offers conveniences that Team Members might need to pick up before heading home. Items like milk and eggs are available so you don’t have to make an extra stop on the way home. You can even pick up essentials like socks or underwear in case you need an extra pair on the job. Universal recognizes that Team Members often work long hours and may not have a chance to run a lot of extra errands so they even stock items like cards and birthday cakes so you can show up at home on time and with something special in hand.

5. Parade participation

Regular Universal Team Members have the opportunity to participate in seasonal parades, becoming an interesting part of the action. While many entertainment positions, like dancers and stilt walkers, are reserved for extremely qualified Team Members, there are some other jobs that just about anyone can fill.

Universal Team Members can pick up shifts holding the giant balloons in the Macy’s Holiday Parade or throwing beads from the Mardi Gras floats. This is a fun way to try on the role of an entertainer without actually devoting your career to becoming one.

6. Hotel discounts

Universal offers flat rate hotel discounts to Team Members. This means that they can book nearly any room at an on-site resort for one low rate. Depending on the season this is either a good deal or an insanely good deal. Hotel stays include Express Passes, which adds a big chunk to their value.

In contrast, Disney’s resort discounts for Cast Members are based on the price of the room at the time of booking, so a room at the Grand Floridian is always more expensive than a room at Pop Century, and seasonal fluctuations will impact room rates as well.

Though working in a theme park is far from being an easy job, there are many perks that come along with it, particularly for Team Members at Universal. With these special add-ons, the job can suddenly seem a whole lot sweeter.

Please do your research before writing articles! 1-No we don't get Turkeys, who cares, the ones they give out are tiny. 2- Not So Scary and Disney's Christmas events are filed with infinitely more to do than Universal. 3- we have a several company stores with vastly bigger discounts as well as grocery items. 4- 35%-75% discounts on resort rooms depending on season. 5- universal allows employees to join in Mardi Gras parades voluntarily. 6- the perks for WDW cast members greatly exceeds those of Universal. From internal transfers to the ability to move up in the company at a accelerated rate. Just so you know the next time you decide to write something completely inaccurate.

1-The turkeys are actually never less than 13 lbs.
2- That's great not so scary has a lot of stuff to do.. Halloween Horror Nights is the #1 ranked Halloween event for many years running, and Uni TM's can go every night for free if they want. Also can go to Rock the Universe, Mardi Gras concerts, Summer concerts, etc.
3 - ok
4 - 35%-75% is a big margin... UNI TM's pay no more than $75 for suites at any of the hotels no matter what the season. Only downside would be rooms not being available during busy seasons, but prices don't change if it is available.
5-yes it's voluntary, but you can also transfer and work mardi gras if you want and there are a multitude of roles. Or sometimes volunteering on a float could be fun, and at least UNI TM's have that opportunity is what's the point.
6 - internal transfers? UNI does the same all the time. Moving up in the company? That has nothing to do with whatever company you're working for, it's all up to you to make yourself move up no matter where you work.

I live in NJ but would love the chance to work for universal. I was there 3 weeks ago and all the tms were so nice and friendly. That's my dream live in Florida and work for universal.

Also Universal does a thing called Party Patrol. You can get free candy, drinks, chips, play games, soda, and various other items occasionally on your stroll into work.

Not to mention Attractions TM's get their own award shows yearly. Your venue gets to make a funny video for all to see. You also get to vote on best trainers, best themer, best lead, mr. and ms. IOA and USF. It's a lot of fun and I believe you get free drinks during it too.

As for Disney doing more? Yeah no. I've worked there and the only special experience I've ever had was a GFC. yaaay :/
