3. The Edison

Disney announced The Edison as a prospect for a new Disney Springs restaurant/entertainment venue. However, no one on either side of the deal has confirmed the new location for now.

If the deal comes through, The Edison may be the most unique Disney restaurant to date. The current venue is located in Los Angeles, and it’s difficult to describe the aesthetic.

It seems to be a combination of turn-of-the-century style, décor, and manners with modern technology and a sophisticated edge—sort of a steampunk atmosphere with some old-fashioned customs.

They don’t have a specific dress code at the L.A. location, though they do require a certain level of sophistication in guests’ attire; no sports attire or torn clothing is acceptable, and men must wear collared shirts and dress shoes.

The L.A. version is more nightclub than typical restaurant, with specialty drinks and unique entertainment being the main draw for patrons of the establishment. Food is served, however, and most reviews state that it’s quite good.

If The Edison is added to the Disney Springs lineup, the rumor is that Mannequins Dance Palace will be renovated to hold the new nightclub. Mannequins was a favorite for many Disney World guests, but it closed down in 2008 when all the Pleasure Island clubs officially closed.

While The Edison does remarkably well in Los Angeles, it will be interesting to see whether or not it holds up in Disney World. It certainly has a unique concept, fun atmosphere, trendy drinks, and excellent menu options available, but is that enough to make it last in the most magical place on earth?
