2. Will Frozen become a permanent fixture at California Adventure?

Last month, we brought you word that Muppet*Vision 3D would be temporarily shut down to make way for a Frozen sing-along show, which was expected to open in late December and bow sometime in the spring, once all the Christmastime crowds had gotten their fill.

Now, however, it looks as if the Muppets’ departure may be a bit longer than initially expected.

According to a recent report from Muppets fansite Tough Pigs (I bet you’ve never heard of that one before), a cast member has written to them with news that all the Muppet theming and props have already been removed from the attraction’s queue and lobby in a fashion that can only be described as permanent, with the theater next up to be “stripped clean.”

The site concludes that, with an ice rink being erected next door, it’s safe to assume that Frozen will continue to be the next occupant of the show building/area, and that, given the runaway success of the franchise, it’ll continue to remain there for a long time to come.

What’s interesting to note here is that this would make California Adventure the first Disney theme park in the world to be home to a permanent Frozen attraction of one kind or another; the seasonal events at both Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom in Orlando have been, of course, seasonal, while Epcot’s Norway Pavilion won’t welcome its Frozen boat ride until 2016, and Tokyo Disney’s new port of Arendelle isn’t expected to open until sometime within the next decade(!).

Given this, perhaps the new show will be less like its Hollywood Studios’s forbearer and have more in common with Muppet*Vision’s 4D presentation, utilizing 3D film, audio-animatronic characters, and live actors.

3. Mad T Party is late for a very important date…

Let’s move from rumored closures to an officially announced one, shall we?

California Adventure’s Mad T Party, a nighttime dance “event” based off of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland from 2010, was instituted on the exact same day that Cars Land officially opened at the park (making its impending cancellation and Luigi’s probable one somewhat ironic).

Featuring a DJ, live band, a troupe of street performers, the now-ubiquitous Glow with the Show Ears, and exclusive beverages, it was a direct play at capturing the hipper, alcohol-fueled 20-something segment of Disneyland Resort’s diehard audience.

Just a few weeks ago, Disney abruptly revealed that it would be pulling the plug on the quasi-rave on November 30, 2014, and a Frozen themed "Freeze the Night" event would be replacing it during Disney California Adventure's Frozen Fun event (and possibly for the forseeable future).
