4. Signs of the ice gator

Watch Out for the Ice Gator

The mascot of Blizzard Beach is the Ice Gator. This happy Florida local loved the idea of having a chilly retreat where he could ski. Though this character loved this pastime, you can see evidence of his antics which indicate that he wasn’t as talented as he may have hoped. Signage warns of low flying gators. If you look closely beyond the sign, you’ll see that there’s a good reason for such warnings. Ski tracks are still evident in the melting snow on the roof. Opposite this, you’ll see where the Ice Gator landed – plummeting right through the wall of the gift shop across the street.

5. Ski resort architecture

The buildings around Blizzard Beach don’t look Floridian. They have a distinctly alpine appeal with peaked roofs and other architectural details that are reminiscent of a mountain ski resort. The look has one twist. The color palette is still bright and tropical. The lodge look pops in bright pinks, greens, and blues. The finished look has palm tree silhouettes side-by-side with pines. Though quirky, it comes together in a way only Disney’s Imagineers could pull off.

6. Snow vehicles stuck in the sand

Sonny's Sleds

One of the best photo ops in the park is evident right in the front. Whether you hop on these vehicles on the way in or out, they offer a fun opportunity to experience the theme of the park. These snow vehicles are stuck in the sand, right where they landed when the snow melted away. Though it’s clear they’re not going anywhere anytime soon, there’s no reason you can’t jump on and cheese for the camera.

These little details will give you a fun idea of the intricate story that Blizzard Beach was built around. Keep your eyes open as you play in the park and you’ll notice dozens of other design details that bring the tale to life.
