It seems that the main point of this article is that Disney is having more success and sees less risk in expanding and revamping their existing parks as opposed to putting close to a billion dollars in a brand new park that might not pay off.

So it makes me think that after Avatarland and Star Wars Land are completed at DAK and DHS respectively, their next focus will probably go to revamping EPCOT. EPCOT has long been criticized for not updating their vision of the future for so long that it now looks like the past, or for leaving LARGE buildings housing former beloved rides completely abandoned. I really believe that we won't see real plans for a fifth park for a LONG time, at least a decade. But meanwhile we'll get cool stuff at the other parks.

Disney has no incentive for a fifth gate. They are making tons of money at their parks, and attendance continues to grow despite annual price increases. While us theme park affitionados would love a fifth gate, it list doesn't make financial sense for Disney.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with the current focus on standing park improvement. As nifty as a fifth gate would be, Disney making sure that their current parks are in top condition seems like a much better idea than trying to open another park on the cheap.

Spend 6 days in Orlando last month - of which one spent at Universal, in particular Harry Potter. The HP rides and attractions blows current Disney out of the water! It's fresh - and the few rides are just awesome. Don't get me wrong - I love Disney and always will. But overall, it's really starting to look tired and shop-worn.

I completely agree with Jennifer-a Dark Kingdom is definitely what they need! I have been more inclined to prefer the Villains, especially Cruella de Vil & Maleficent! I would stand in line next to forever just to be the first one in to a Dark Kingdom Theme Park! Hell, My husband & I did the One More Disney Day & DID STAY the entire 24 hrs. This was Leap Year 2012, the first time WDW did such a thing! And, we were not alone! Just as I suspect a Dark Kingdom as the Fifth Gate would be a SUCCESS from the start! C'mon WDW Execs-Do it!!! Build us Villain Lovers a Dark Kingdom!

I love Disney, to the moon and back, but with all these price increases, and nothing to really show for it right now, I'm disinclined to renew my passes next year. However, I can guarantee, that if the Dark Kingdom actually came to life, I'd be back in an instant. It's bold, yes, but that's what Disney needs right now. They need to be proactive versus reactive, and that's the kind of risk that's worth taking!

They need to buy back the Marval rights from Universal Studios
And then open the Marvel universe theme park. The movies alone would allow them to build many immersive worlds (lands). The comics will truly come to life, and of course would be way better than what US has now for super hero island.
