Why didn't you cover the difference in use between resale and direct buy. I heard there are use limitations on resale. For example cruises you cannot book as a DVC resale buyer.

One thing this article does not cover is the things you miss out on when you buy resale points. When you buy a membership in DVC you can use your points at DVC resorts and RCI world wide, and Disney cruise line! However that is only when you buy directly from Disney. When you buy the points resale, you do not get access to use your points on the Disney cruise line or RCI.

You may want to add info on what you "can't" do with points when buying resale. Such as using points for cruises, Disney Collection hotels, etc. Not that any of the options you are giving up are good value of points anyway, but it's good to be a fully informed buyer.

Thanks for these articles David, they've been really helpful

Isn't there a 30 year limit on ownership?

No. It is 50 years on new property. If you buy in on an older property then your years left maybe be less.
