I was at Universal last weekend. I am 6'4 and weigh about 300lbs. I was able to fit in all the rides, except Harry Potter and the forbidden journey. I did have to use the extended seat on Dragon Challenge. Hulk is down for remodel.

If you question it, don't bother going. I read the rules and guidelines. My son fit the requirements to ride most rides. But to our surprise he was not allowed on any ride he attempted. He's an amputee. Plenty there to hold him in. Plenty there to keep him safe. No reason to not allow him. Universal does not follow their guide book. Universal does not cater to the differences in people. Universal doesn't have specifics for sizes. Save your money or risk a huge disappointment like we did. S

Ripsaw rapids has the Canadian goose for larger guests. Just ask for the Canadian goose.

The Gringotts test seats don't have the larger seats. The extended seats are rows 3 & 6 on the outside of the rows.

Please me more specific about "larger midsection". Is there a measurement, in inches, we can go by?

I work at Dragon Challenge and there is no official measurement. It all just depends on body types. Some people may be very large but have a "squishy" midsection which may be able to buckle in easily while a very muscular and broad shouldered man may not be able to fit at all. It can also come down to how you're sitting as well. For some, by simply adjusting their postures are they able to fit.

As someone who has worked in Universal Attractions for almost ten years, and has worked at multiple attractions including three of these ones, don't ask for dimensions. Just check the test seats. If you don't check the test seats and you get to the front of the line and can't ride, you get nothing to compensate. Even in a five hour line like Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts. You can go to Guest Services and scream your face blue and you will get nothing. Just. Check. The Test Seats.
