For me convenience is worth it I don't want to think about Ave Xtra buck for a bottle of water . We do bring our own when we drive for the room and my husband's breathing machine. Same goes for food I'm on vacation. I don't to make peanut butter and jelly when other people are eating at Columbia harbor house.

My girlfriend and I recently went to Disney World and were given free bananas. It was in the Magic Kingdom, semi early in the morning (maybe 9am after riding space mountain a few times). We walked up to the stand and the sun was right in the castmember's eyes. Being a tall gent I did my best to block the sun for her, cause who likes the sun being in their eyes, right? We told her what we wanted and I got my money out. She simply said "you're good to go". Nicest lady ever, I really wish I would have gotten her name. So even though prices can be expensive, remember to always be a decent person and things might work out in your favor.

When staying in Disney World, there are grocery store services that allow you to pre-order various food items, including bulk bottled water, staple products, beer & wine, etc and have it delivered to your resort straight to your room, the perishables placed in the fridge, the day you arrive. There is a delivery charge, but it saves the hassles of driving out for it, and you can save money by buying less park food.

Disneyland is not the only place they mark up items! Carnivals, any amusement parks, movies, ball games, zoo, waterparks...really anywhere where there is entertainment! I work at a casino and paid $7 for a bottle of water!

I was just at Disney in July and we bought the squeeze breeze twice (on two seperate days) and they were only $10 a piece.

I also have not bought peanut butter in a store for under $6 since I don't know when.

The Disney ponchos are worth the 8 dollars. If it should rip, which can happen, they replace them for free. I dry mine and fold it up. It stays in my backpack while I am at Disney and it goes in my suitcase when I get home. I purchased mine 6 years ago. On my last trip in July, I was using a scooter and I got tangled up and tore my poncho. I drove into the closest store and they gave me a new one, no questions asked.

Mist fans are $5 at Walmart. My kids and I bring Camel-baks, being in the military I have a ton of them. We just refill at water fountains.

Where do you get peanut butter for under 3 dollars?

I have found peanut butter for under $3 at Aldi, Walmart, and Publix

Yes, you can just go to first aid and get pain relievers and band aids for FREE. There are first aid kits in the stores for the people that work there. Not for guests. Cast members cannot legally give these items away.

We went to Disney this past May. My son needed 1 band-aid. I went to the nearest 'shop' in Animal Kingdom and I had to BUY a $4 package of 2 or 3 band-aids with a small packet of Neosporin. I would have thought each 'store' would have a first aid kit for boo-boos that happen in the park OR I would have been directed to someone or somewhere a first-aid kit would be located for FREE! PLUS, a rain poncho with Mickey on it is $8+TAX...buy them elsewhere and bring cheap ones with you of rainy days!! I saved the Mickey one and I will be bringing it back, from Louisiana, to use if needed to one of the parks again!

There are first aid stations at Disney parks that will give you pain meds, bandaids, and even diapers for free. You just have to ask where it is.

I am a passholder and we go to disney a fee times a month. These prices are all wrong i bought a 4 pack of the rayovac batteries for 3 and some change at epcot same price u can buy them for at walmart...and 2nd you can get a BIG bottle of dasani water at magic kingdom for either 2.50 or 3.00...while yes some things are over priced there but most of that is cuz u are paying for the disney name....atleast get your prices righ

One year, my husband had a bad headache, we were in the magic kingdom and needed some Advil. 2 tiny pills cost us $4. Lets just say, after that we brought our bottle of Advil each day after....bottle of Advil $4 vs 2 pills $4

If you go to the first aid station they will give you pain relievers for free :)

When I went to Disney World last summer, we stayed off the property near a Walgreens. We visited there everyday. We got ponchos and mist fans much cheaper off property, and much cheaper if we were to buy them at home in the bay area where there weather isn't as warm. They said Florida on it which was still a nice souvenir from the trip. We also got Disney souvenirs from the Walgreens as well. They had tons of Disney merchandise. We got these for the nieces and nephews.

Yeah honestly, if you're going to post about something for everyone to see and try to sound smart, at least make sure your math is correct. From $10 to $19 is a 90% increase not 190%... lets just assume you accidentally added the extra 1, the other percentages are wrong too. And a case of water is cheaper because its in bulk, buying one bottle at an average store is only a few cents or maybe a dollar less than Disney's.

90% is the increase, the mark-up is 190% otherwise your new price would be lower.

$10 x .9 (90%) = 9
$10 x 1.9 (190%) = 19
therefore 190% is correct

The reality is this is not the best way to demonstrate the difference just let the $$ values speak for themselves.

Sorry but that's not right. Markup and increase are the same when used here. This is a "percent of" not a "percent increased". If you were correct, then a 100% "markup" on $10 would still be $10.

No matter if you call it a "markup" or "increase" it is still 90%.

The author used improper phrasing. The "Markup" is 90%. However, the 190% is comparative value. To phrase it properly would be:

The Disney price is 190% of Targets.

The formula would be:

%X $D
--- = ---
100 $T

Where you can solve for X (percent of Targets price) by inputting the Disney price ($D) and Target Price ($T) to find the corresponding value.

Is my math wrong or are the mark up %s off i mean $19 to $10 thats $9 dollars more isnt that a 90% markup?? The other ones are off also

Your prices are wrong.
Sunblock is about $14 to $16, batteries are about $6 and squeeze breezes are $17.

I was just going to say that as well. They need to get there prices right instead of assuming what they think it is. I use to work at Disney, and remember the prices.

We've always been given water for free - by asking for a cup of ice water. Works for us.
