Some of the parks from the Dubailand plans are now open about 25 minutes away. "Dubai Parks and Resorts" opened in the fall of 2015. To date, there are 3 completed parks: 1. Motiongate wich contains rides and attractuons from Dreamworks, Colombia Studios, Liongate and Smurf Village. 2.Bollywood offers rides, attractions and shows based on films from India. 3. LEGOLAND, well you should know that one.
As of May 2017, the 4th park, Six Flags, is under construction and planned to open in 2018.

I thought I heard a couple years ago that Universal was speaking to the Tolkien estate about building a third theme park based on Middle Earth. Has there been any truth to those rumours?
I heard that the talks with the Tolkien estate was for when the Marvel contract with Disney ended. Disney is not expected to renew the contact and Universal will have to close the Marvel area.
