Hi Sebastian!
As I live in Barcelona I always have had an eye at PortAventura.
It's because of this why I don't totally agree with you in the point of investments at the Universal's years.
The hotels, except for Gold River, where created at Universal's arrival, as well as the small water park.
It was in their first year when they created Fiestaventura, the actually underrated and let down night show.
Besides that, they created Templo del Fuego, despites now they mark it as a show to cut down costs, and Sea Odissey, a fantastic undersea simulator now unafortunately and inexplicably turned into a low cost 4D theatre.
We can say those investments ended up very badly, but if they were maintained an run as originally planned they will still be on the resort spotlight.
What can't be denied is that Universal spent a lot of money on PortAventura. :)
Cheers from Barcelona!

Thank you for replying, I completely agree with your points, I was unaware that Universal had built three of the hotels, they obviously had a big impact on turning it into a major resort. Templo del Fuego is a fantastic attraction, one that I failed to highlight. I was not fortunate enough to get to PortAventura before they changed Sea Odyssey, but you could tell from the theming that it was once a great attraction, great points!

I have just got back from salou, went here twice one of the days we stayed till 12. I love how it stays open so late plenty of time to get on everything then see the great show at the end of the day.

love Shambhala got on it 8 or more times one day the airtime is great seems to keep a lot of its speed throughout as well.

Really great park would definitely go back.
