I am a Florida resident Annual Passholder and a huge SW fan. I have thoroughly enjoyed the SW themed additions to HS and have returned multiple times. That being said, I am not 100% a fan of all of it. I think that the character show in the courtyard is "okay", but seeing everything on the video screens is difficult depending on where you are standing. Plus, as another commented, standing in the baking sun to watch the show is not terribly enjoyable.

My favorite new addition is the SW Launch Bay. It may have a museum feel, but guess what...? It is a museum, go figure. I think the Kylo Ren and Chewie meet and greets are really well done and I have attended them multiple times. The film at the beginning is quite enjoyable as well.

All in all, I have enjoyed the SW additions even if they are glorified stop-gaps to raise interest in a park under construction.

I agree with the information provided but I find it interesting that you don't mention the roaming troopers in Launch Bay which are very popular? More shocking, that you don't the March of the First Order which is the second most popular entertainment offering at Studios behind Fantasmic. #KnowYourFacts

For my fellow commentors asking for proof, hopefully I can help the blogger there.

Here is the page for A Galaxy Far, Far Away on the DHS website. If you click on the calendar under "Hours" and click on various dates, you will notice that there are no show times listed for any date after October 1st. Compare that to other shows at DHS, such as Beauty & the Beast, Fantasmic, Indy, & Frozen, all of which have times listed going all the way through October.

Most of these attractions, except for A galactic spectacular, were meant to be temporary anyways. Now Disney marketing wouldn't have you believe that and I feel sorry for all the visitors expecting something big. I think the biggest misstep was for them to get rid of Star Wars Weekends. Continuing this event at least until Star Wars Land opened would have been a great way to keep the fan base happy until that happened.

Wait for Pandora burnout !

Interesting opinion. Nothing you have presented has any evidence to make it credible. I'd suggest maybe adding some interviews or sources to your next article, especially when it is saying something is closing.

Where do U get your info from???? I can assure u nothing is true about this!!!

I visited Hollywood Studios in May. Since I’m a long-time Star Wars geek, I was anticipating a wonderful fan-dom experience. While I did enjoy myself, I was also glad that I only spent a half-day there and without my non-geek family. (Long story and off-topic.)

The Path of the Jedi was an enjoyable break from the heat. I went to it later in the afternoon. I agree that it isn’t a popular attraction. However, it provided air conditioning and a place to sit for 15 minutes. The video content was distinctly similar to the one in the Star Wars Launch Bay. Again, for the enjoyment of the a/c and the seat, I didn’t mind.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away was playing when I first arrived, so I saw a little from the back of the crowd. (I’m short, so “a little” is an apt description.) Consequently, I staked out a spot in the front for the next showing. I got some great pictures of the characters, but the show seemed too long. IMO, seeing the Stormtroopers repeating the same poses gets boring. The other characters weren’t onstage for very long. Maybe their appearances are limited because of the heat? The video scrim was entertaining, but hard to see unless you’re near the front. The glaring sun baking the shade-less courtyard also didn’t help the overall enjoyment.

The Launch Bay was fun. I didn’t mind the museum-like atmosphere. I found a couple of details really interesting. (Why is Anakin’s lightsaber now listed as the Hero lightsaber? What implications does that have for Rey? Did I mention I’m a Star Wars geek? ) The pre-show video was interesting. I enjoyed the interview with Kathleen Kennedy. My biggest complaint was how the character lines were run. The Chewbacca line fed directly into the Kylo Ren line. I didn’t want to see Kylo, but was herded there anyway. It was waste of time for me, the actor inside the mask, and the photo pass photographers. The Launch Bay isn’t for everyone. Unless new things are added from Rogue One or the later films, I don’t need to return. Been there. Done that. Have the pictures of Chewie giving me a hug.

The Galactic Spectacular was not open when I was there, so I can’t comment on it. From what I’ve read about it, I’m glad that I missed it.

I saw the Star Wars Symphony in the Stars fireworks show instead. It was a beautifully timed fireworks show set to the Star Wars soundtracks. (It was some of the best music/fireworks synchronization that I have ever seen.) The show could be heard/seen easily from our vantage point next to Echo Lake. The fireworks coordinators were conscious of Star Wars details. For example, the fireworks changed colors as the music themes changed. (Red for the Imperial March. Green for Luke’s theme. Blue for Rey’s theme.) It was a nice, additional nod to the geeks in the crowd.

Overall, the new Star Wars attractions are OK for a half-day venture if you’re a Star Wars geek. Cut that time in half or more for non-geeks. Have these attractions overstayed their welcome? Perhaps. But without them, what else is there to do for the non-riders?

I can't believe what I'm reading...I think all the new Star Wars attractions have finally given Hollywood Studios the new attractions it's needed to at least help compete with all the new stuff Universal is doing...I personally love all of it. I already can't believe they are closing down the show, and possibly the fireworks show. The launch bay is definitely the biggest hit of all, and if that closes down, I may boycott Hollywood Studios for quite some time.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I love all the attention HS has on the IP. Many of the attractions you mentioned seem like frantic attempts to cash in on SW. When thought out, like star tours and Jedi training, the experience is fantastic. I think Disney is caught in a no man's land, being between having nothing until Star Wars land in 2020 (guessing conservatively) or not having the time to put together something that is both high quality and temporary. I'm sure these attraction nas will change and more lesser Star Wars IPs will be used to bridge the gap until the new land is open. Hopefully Star Wars weekends will return.
