No. No. No. No. No. Not only does this ruin a beloved attraction but it will ruin the Hollywood theming of the nearby land. This seems like a short sighted money grab. 10 years from now the ride will have to be re-themed again.
The one good thing about the ToT in WDW is that it has to "blend in" with the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT. There was great design influence to make sure that guests in World Showcase would have ToT blend in with the structures of Morocco. I am seriously hoping that Disney keeps the original story at HS.
As long as the original Tower of Terror still stays the same at least there will be one available to ride. I would not be happy if this comes to Hollywood Studios though. It would not fit in at all in that area of the park. I understand these overlays from a business stand point because they are much cheaper and more importantly faster than a brand new ride but Disney has been taking this "easy" way out a little too much lately.
This is the stupidest idea ever. Tower of Terror is one of the few attractions left at DCA that works with the story and idea of the land where it is located. This feels like it will be a cheap overlay. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.

Would love to see this come to Hollywood Studios but I'm guessing not until after they finish with the Star Wars and Toy Story Lands
This is stupid. I thought the biggest mistake/money grab disney has made in regards to its California parks was taking out Thunder Ranch (perhaps the best "atmosphere"in the park particularly during the holidays) Now this crap takes the top spot for terrible ideas.
